FLYERS COME UP JUST SHORT IN DUAL MEET VERSUS FAU

    BOCA RATON, Fla. - In their first event of the 2009 spring season, the Dayton Flyers men's golf team came up just short in a dual meet versus Florida Atlantic losing 314-311.

    Played at the Ocean Breeze Country Club in Boca Raton, Fla., Dayton sophomore Chris Woeste led the Flyers with a 76.

    Close behind were fellow sophomores Jeff Hodapp and Zach Glassman each recording a 79.

    Senior Rob Chappell fired an 80 to place in fourth on the UD squad. Freshman Michael Oberschmidt carded an 85 to round out the team scoring.

    Among the individuals, Matthew Friend carved out an 83 to open the season. He was followed by the rest of the senior class: an 84 from Mark Juve, an 85 by Nick Trubee and an 89 from Mitch Custenborder.

    This is the first event of the spring 2009 campaign for UD. Up next for the Flyers is the Butler Spring Invitational held March 23 & 24 in Avon, Ind.
