UD PICKED TO FINISH IN 4TH IN THE A-10 PRESEASON MEN'S GOLF POLL

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Dayton Flyers were picked to fourth in the 2012 Atlantic 10 Men’s Golf Preseason poll as voted on by the league’s head coaches.

Last season at the Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Championship the Flyers finished in ninth out of 11 teams.

“I’m pleased with that ranking considering how we finished last year,” Gip Hoagland, UD Men’s Golf Head Coach said. “We had a rough tournament last year where nothing went right. But we had a good fall and I think some people took notice. Hopefully, we can go down to Florida and do better than where the predictions have us finishing.”

Charlotte, who has captured the last six conference championships, garnered seven first-place votes to lead all schools. Xavier was the coaches’ pick to finish second, while Richmond rounded out the top three.

Following Dayton was George Washington in fifth, Rhode Island in sixth and Temple in seventh. Rounding out the field was St. Bonaventure, Saint Joseph’s, Fordham and La Salle.

The 2012 A-10 Men’s Golf Championship will be held April 27 – 29 at the Heron Bay Golf Club in Coral Springs, Fla.
