THREE FLYERS EARN ALL ATLANTIC 10 HONORS

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. —A trio of Dayton Flyers earned All-Atlantic 10 honors as Kevin Dillard was named to the Second Team All-Atlantic 10, Chris Johnson was an Honorable Mention selection and Luke Fabrizius was named to the All-Academic Team.

Dillard had established himself as one of the top point guards in the Atlantic 10. He ranks second in the A-10 and ranks 21st in the NCAA in assists per game (5.9). Dillard is also second in the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.1) and sixth in free throw shooting (.825).

Against Atlantic 10 opponents, Dillard leads in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.4) and ranks second in assists per game (6.7) and third in free throw percentage (.880). His scoring is also up from non-conference action, averaging 13.8 points versus conference opponents (14th in the A-10).

This is the fourth season Johnson earned All-Atlantic 10 honors. After being selected to the All-Rookie Team as a freshman, he is a two-time Honorable Mention All-Atlantic 10 selection. He also earned the Chris Daniels Most Improved Player award as a sophomore.

Johnson also is the only college basketball player in the last 20 years to have 1,400 points, 800 rebounds, 300 offensive rebounds and 200 three-pointers while shooting at least 80% from the line.

Fabrizius earns his first All-Academic team selection. He is a double major in Finance and Business Economics. The senior from Arlington Heights, Ill., possess a 3.71 cumulative grade point average and won the John L. MacBeth award twice in his UD career.

Johnson and Dillard were named co-winners of the White-Allen Most Valuable Player Award at the annual UD men's basketball banquet.

The individual awards, along with the All-Conference Teams, were selected by the Atlantic 10’s 14 head men’s basketball coaches. The All-Academic Team was chosen by a vote of the league’s 14 sports information directors.

The Flyers will host the George Washington Colonials on Tuesday, March 6 at 7 p.m. ET in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Men’s Basketball Championship. UD earned the No. 6 seed after tying fifth and finishing the regular season 9-7 in the Atlantic 10 and 19-11 overall.

Dayton defeated the Colonials 75-59 on Saturday behind 19 points from Chris Johnson. The Dayton-GW winner will advance to face the No. 3 seed Xavier Musketeers Friday, March 9 at 9 p.m. ET in Atlantic City, N.J.
