Day One Results

MIROMAR LAKES, Fla. - The University of Dayton men's golf team is in a tie for eighth place after the first two rounds of the 2013 Cobra-PUMA Invitational held at the par-72, 7,390-yard Miromar Lakes Golf Club and hosted by Xavier University. Junior George Rohde, III turned in the Flyers' low 36-hole total for the day with his three-over-par 76-71=174, which has him in a tie for 22nd place overall.

Dayton is one of 13 teams competing in the two-day invitational: Arkansas State, Bethune-Cookman, Dayton, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Georgetown, Northern Kentucky, Ohio, Savannah State, St. John's, Saint Joseph's, Stetson, Xavier.

After a first-round team score of 306, the Flyers bounced back on the second 18 with a much-improved 291 for a total of 597.

Rohde, III's second-round score of 71 was highlighted by a hole-in-one on 17th hole. It was the Cincinnati native's second sub-par round and the ace was the second for the team of the fall season.

Freshman Nick Paxson fired rounds of 76 and 73 to post a five-over two-round total of 149 (t-29). Freshman Caleb Wolters finished just one shot behind Paxson for the day in a tie for 36th place with his 77-73=150 (+6).

Senior Andrew Steffensmeier rounded out the team scoring for Dayton with rounds of 77 and 74 to post a seven-over-par 151 (t-49th). Junior Craig Purpus is also competing on the Flyers' team of five, carding an 82 and 81 (163, +19) for a tie for 68th place.

Play will resume Monday morning with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start for the final round of play.
