Sophomore Fires Career Low Round of 72 on First 18 in Evansville

BOONVILLE, Ind. - The Dayton women's golf team is in eighth place out of 14 teams after the first round of play at the Braun Intercollegiate with a team score of 304. Sophomore Mika Suntay leads the Flyers after carding a career low round of 72, putting her in a tie for third place overall. UD will resume play tomorrow morning for its final round of the fall season. The two-day event is being played at Quail Crossing Golf Course and hosted by University of Evansville.

The team score of 304 ties a program record - the Flyers last posted a team score of 304 during 2012-13 in the third round of the Indiana Invitational on April 13.

Lipscomb University leads the field after posting a team score of 295 - Dayton us just nine shots off the leader - and the Bisons are lead by Mirian Parker who carded the tournament's low round of 70.

Senior Maggie Prokop sits in a tie for 35th place after turning in a score of 77. Freshman Jenna DiPaolo also carded at 77 on the first 18, five strokes better than her previous low round.

Senior Grace Nikolai's seven-over-par 78 was good for a tie for 39th and junior Lucy Frey rounded out the Flyers' scores with an 87 (t-73).

The Flyers return to action Tuesday with a 10:00 a.m. shotgun start.
