HEBRON, Ky. - The University of Dayton men's golf team finished the 2013 Cincinnati Bearcat Invitational in 12th place after moving up four spots in the final round of play. As a team, UD posted rounds of 312, 300 and 295 for a 54-hole total of 43-over-par 907 at the par-72, 6,728-yard Traditions Golf Club. Senior
Andrew Steffensmeier led the Flyers with a three-round score of 76-76-71=223 (+7).
Freshman
Caleb Wolters carded three straight rounds of 75 for a nine-over-par total of 225. Wolters finished play in a tie for 36th place. Freshman
Nick Paxson fired rounds of 80-75-78 for a total of 233 (+17), finishing in a tie for 65th place.
Wolters' and Paxson's classmate,
Kevin Wargo shot a career-low round of 71 for the final 18 and his three-round total of 233 (85-77). Wargo also finished in 65th place. Junior
George Rohde, III rounded out the scoring for the Flyers, carding rounds of 81, 74 and 81 (236, +20). Rohde tied for 72nd place.
The Flyers return to action Oct. 14-15 as they play host to the 2013 Flyer Invitational. The 16-team tournament will be held in Kettering, Ohio, at NCR Country Club.
