EAST LANSING, Mich. – No. 23/21 University of Dayton fell in overtime, 96-89, to No. 19/20 Michigan State Sunday at the Breslin Center.
Junior
Andrea Hoover led all scorers with 25 points, a career-high. Junior
Ally Malott notched her second consecutive double-double with 19 points and a career-high 15 rebounds.
Sophomore
Amber Deane also had a double-double with 12 points and 10 assists, and also added a career-high five steals. Senior
Cassie Sant had 12 points for UD, making it the fourth consecutive game that the Flyers have had at least four players score in double figures.
The Flyers trailed 34-23 at the half after shooting just 18.8 percent from the floor, despite a quick 5-0 start to the game by UD.
Michigan State led by as many as 15 with 16:02 left in regulation, 45-30. The Flyers made a furious come back and - regained their first lead since early in the first half - 59-58 with 6:58 to play on a
Saicha Grant-Allen free throw.
In the final seven minutes of regulation there were eight lead changes and the game was tied eight times. Aerial Powers tied the game at 78-78 with a layup with 8 seconds left in regulation. The Flyers had a chance to win in regulation but Sant's shot came up short at the buzzer.
Michigan State outscored the Flyers 18-11 in the OT period to pull out the victory. It marks UD's second overtime loss to a Big Ten school this season. The Flyers also fell to Iowa, 97-93, on Nov. 10.

The Flyers play at No. 25 Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn. on Sunday, Nov. 24 and at Central Michigan Thursday, Dec. 5. UD's next home game is Sunday, Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. vs. Washington State. It will be the Flyers' alumnae game with a pre-game reception and halftime reception of former UD women's basketball players.
