ROWING HAS GREAT DAY AT IU

Flyers Close Out Fall Races At Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The University of Dayton rowing team scrimmaged Indiana University Saturday in perfect weather conditions at  the Dale England Rowing Center on Lake Lemon, northeast of Bloomington.

It marked the first and last race of the season for the Flyers since their other race, The Head of the Eagle, was cancelled the week before in Indianapolis due to extreme weather conditions.

"The weather was perfect and IU  was a gracious host. We enjoy  each opportunity to race in Bloomington," said UD Head Coach Mike Wenker. "All in all, the racing went well for the first and last race of the fall. The varsity eight raced well and the novice improved between each  five minute race. This was a good race before the team heads inside for winter training. Overall, we are satisfied and ready for winter training."

The lineups for the races vs. Indiana were:

Varsity 8+
Coxswain
5:  Emma Tokar
3:  Erin Mohney
2:  Alli Martie

Novice 8+
C: Madison Little
7: Tori Singleton
6: Marissa Cody
4: Kaitlin Beemiller

Mixed 8+
C: Stephanie Whitlock
3: Hannah Whalen / Amanda Burneka
2: Morgan Beemiller

Dayton will return to Bloomington next spring for their second race of the season where they will take on Duquesne and Indiana.

"The spring race will be a chance to evaluate strengths and weaknesses against an A-10 opponent," said Wenker.

The Flyers will be training the rest of the year before opening the spring season at the Oak Ridge Invitational March 15-16 in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
