FLYERS WRAP UP PLAY AT MARSHALL INVITATIONAL

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Senior team captain Andrew Steffensmeier carded a team-tournament-low of 68 in the University of Dayton men's golf team's final round of play at the Marshall Invitational Tuesday afternoon. The Flyers finished competition with a team score of 306-289-302=897 (+45), placing 15th overall. Steffensmeier's four-over-par 36-hole total of 217 (77-72-68) paced UD and earned him a tie for 21st place.

Junior George Rohde, III posted a third-round score of 77 to end the tournament in 38th place with a 36-hole total of 220 (74-68-77, +7) at Guyan Golf & Country Club. Classmate Craig Purpus was the Flyers' third-best finisher at 66th, scoring 77-72-78=227 +14 for the tournament while newcomer Nick Paxson closed out his first career tournament at 20-over-par 233 (78-76-79) and in 80th place.

Rounding out the team's scores, junior Will Chambers finished in a tie for 84th place for the Flyers with his scorecard total of 239 (78-79-82, +26).

Dayton will have the next week off before returning to action Sept. 23 & 24 at the Louisville Invitational.
