SIMPSONVILLE, Ky.
- The University of Dayton men's golf team finished the 2013 Cardinal Intercollegiate in a tie for 11th place Tuesday with a team score of 294-306-298=898 (+34). The 54-hole event was hosted by the University of Louisville at the Cardinal Club. The highlight of the third round came on hole eight as senior Andrew Steffensmeier aced the par-three, 166-yard hole and his way to a team-low round of 69.

The hole-in-one was Steffensmeier's second career and the first he's carded in tournament play. He followed the eagle with a 25-foot putt for birdie on his final hole of the day. The Columbus, Ohio, native finished the tournament in a tie for 30th place (72-82-69=223 +7).

Freshman Caleb Wolters followed up his Monday performance with a third-round score of 73, which included three birdies and even-par on 12 holes. He was the team's top finisher at seventh place with his three-round total of one-under-par 215 (69-73-73) in his first collegiate competition.

With three birdies on Tuesday's first nine, junior George Rohde, III turned in a 34 for holes 10-18 but struggled on the second nine finishing with a 78 on the day. For the final round he carded three birdies and nines pars, finishing in 51st place overall (78-73-78=229 +13).

Also with a 78 on Tuesday, freshman Kevin Wargo turned in a 39-39 for his round of 18, parring 12 holes on the afternoon. In his first collegiate event, Wargo finished in 59th place with his three-round score of 75-78-78=231 (+15).

Freshman Nick Paxson rounded out the scoring for the Flyers with an 81 third-round score. He knocked in birdies on holes six and nine this afternoon and finished his first collegiate tourney at 30-over-par 246 (81-84-81).

The Flyers will return to action Monday, Sept. 30 when they travel to Cleveland to participate in the Cleveland State Invitational. The two-day event will be held at Barrington Golf Club.
