AURORA, Ohio - The University of Dayton men's golf team wrapped up its first day of play at the Cleveland State Invitational in eighth place Monday evening at the par-72, 7,049-yard Barrington Country Club. Senior Andrew Steffensmeier leads the Flyers with a two-round total of 73-70=143 (-1) and is currently in a tie for 12th place overall.

Junior George Rohde, III, fired a 74-73=147 and is in a three-over-par tie for 25th place after two rounds. Freshman Nick Paxson is also tied for 25th place follwoing his 72-75 three-over outing Monday.

Freshman Caleb Wolters turned in rounds of 76 and 77 to post a 36-hole total of nine-over-par 153 to rank tied for 45th place. Junior Craig Purpose rounded out the team scoring for the Flyers with his 84-84-168 (+24) for a tie for 78th place.

Sophomore Thomas Goss is competing as an individual for the two-day tournament hosted by Cleveland State. Goss carded rounds of 77 and 81 enroute to a total of 158 and is 14-over after the first day of play and is tied for 65th.

The Flyers return to the course Tuesday morning for a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start to play the final 18 holes of the invitational.
