ATHENS, Ohio – The University of Dayton volleyball team bounced back with a sweep of Cincinnati Saturday in the third match of the Ohio University Baymont Inn Invitational at the Convocation Center.
The Flyers (3-2) built momentum throughout the match, winning the sets 26-24, 25-21, 25-18.
Senior
Megan Campbell led UD, offensively, with 11 kills and hitting .375.
Alaina Turner added seven kills, to go along with her match-high 10 kills vs. #24 North Carolina.
Defensively,
Isolde Hannan had five blocks, including one solo, and
Janna Krafka had a match-high 18 digs against the Bearcats (0-4).
Jenna Jendryk, for the second consecutive match of this invitational, had a match-high in assists, this time with 28.
The Flyers clawed back from a 24-21 deficit in the first set, putting up five consecutive points to steal the set. In the second set, the Bearcats tried to duplicate UD's comeback and got the score within 19-18, but Dayton gained control and cruised down the stretch to take it 25-21. With the momentum on its side, UD hit .250, had just four errors and ran away with a 25-18 result in the third set.
The Flyers wrap up play in the Baymont Inn Invitational Saturday at 3 p.m. against the host Bobcats.
