BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The University of Dayton women's track and field team completed day two of the 2014 Gladstein Invitational on Saturday, finishing up a strong weekend at Indiana University.

"The women competed really hard this weekend, said head coach Jason Francis. "The coaching staff was happy with how everyone competed and got after the competition that was there. Everyone was able to grow and better themselves."

After two stellar meets at Ohio State and Kentucky, Dayton was off to a great start to the campaign, but the biggest highlight of the season so far came on Saturday at the Gladstein Fieldhouse.

Chelsea VanHook set a new school record in the 600m event with a time of 1:36.47 and finished third out of 26 competitors. That shattered her personal best time by two seconds.

In the 200m dash, Noelle Tazioli finished 13^th with a time of 26.29 while Maya Pedersen was close behind in 15^th with a time of 26.38.

In the 800m run, Lizzie Gleason took second place overall and posted a time of 2:16.95.

Dayton's "A" unit finished sixth in the 4x800m relay, recording a time of 9:22.59.

In the weight throw, Miranda Nelson used a 16.30m mark to take eighth place. Aly Weeman was right there with her, recording a throw of 15.48m and taking 10^th.

That completed a good weekend at Indiana and will help Dayton heading into their next meet, which will take place at the same fieldhouse.

"We are looking to use this week's experience next week as we go back to Indiana," Francis continued. "Myself and the coaching staff were excited to see the progress both in the performances and how we produced. Chelsea's performance was great. It was nice to get a school record on the board and hopefully records can continue to come in the next couple of weeks."

The Flyers will head back to Bloomington, Ind. next weekend for the Indiana Relays on Friday Jan. 31.
