Round One Results

KETTERING, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's golf team is currently tied for 10th place (324) after playing the first 18 holes of the 2014 Dayton Fall Invitational on the North Course at NCR Country Club. The course is being played at par 70 and 5,872 yards. Senior Lucy Frey and sophomore Jenna DiPaolo currently lead the Flyers' "A" team with rounds of 79 and are tied for 24th place overall. The round started with high winds and ended with rainy conditions but play was completed around 3:30 p.m.

Butler leads the team standings with a round-one score of 303 and the Bulldogs' Jenna Peters is tied for first place with her two-over-par round of 72. Also in first place is Chicago State's Casey MacNeil (72).

"In general, the team had a shaky start," commented head coach Sally Kosters following the round. "We struggled with putting early and that led to loss of confidence. The front nine scores were not that great but, for the most part, the team was able to overcome. I am looking for the team to putt like I know they can and bounce back tomorrow."

Junior Amalia Emma is tied for 51st place overall with a round of 82 (+12) and junior Mika Suntay posted a 14-over-par round of 84 to sit tied for 60th place. Rounding out Dayton A's team scoring is freshman Quinn Atkinson with a round of 87 (+17) and she is tied for 74th place.

The Flyers also fielded a second team, Dayton B, which was led by junior Jackie Berardi with a first-round score of 80 (+10) to be tied for 30th place overall. Freshman Emily Connors carded a 16-over-par round of 86 and is tied for 70th place while senior Kelly Muskat and Mary-Katherine Slattery turned in rounds of 88 (+18) to tie for 78th place. Freshman Emma Meyer is the final Flyer competing as she turned in a round of 89 and is tied for 84th place. As a team, Dayton B posted a 342 (16th).

Play resumes tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.
