KETTERING, Ohio – The University of Dayton women's golf team finished ninth (324-319=643/+83) out of 16 teams at the 2014 Dayton Fall Invitational Tuesday on the North Course at NCR Country Club.Â
The Flyers improved by five strokes on the second day of competition and shot the sixth-best team round. After 36 holes, UD was edged out by SIU Edwardsville (320-322=642/+82) and IPFW (321-321=642/+82). Butler won the invitational with a team score of +44 (303-301=604).
Sophomore
Jenna DiPaolo was UD's top finisher, tied for 13
th, after firing off rounds of 79-77=156. Senior
Lucy Frey was just two strokes back with a consistent 79-79=158 to tie for 24
th place. Juniors
Mika Suntay (84-81) and
Amalia Emma (82-83) both had two-day totals of 165 and tied for 52
nd. Freshman
Quinn Atkinson rounded out Dayton's team score with an 87-82=169, improving five strokes from her first round.
Dayton's B team was led by junior
Jacki Berardi who finished tied for 30
th with a two-round total of 80-79=159. Freshman
Emily Connors took nine strokes off her first-round score and tied for 47
th after shooting 86-79=163. Senior MK Slattery tied for 62
nd with an 88-79-167. Senior
Kelly Muskat shot an 88-87=175 and freshman Emma Mayer finished with a two-day score of 89-90=179.
The Flyer women's golf team will close out the fall portion of its schedule at the Evansville Intercollegiate in Boonville, Ind. at the Quail Crossing Golf Club Oct. 27-28.
