CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The University of Dayton men's cross country team took fourth place out of the seven Division I teams at the 60th Annual All-Ohio 8k Championship Friday afternoon at the Elvin R. King Course.Â
"We ran a very good effort today and proved we are improving with every race," said UD Head Coach
Rich Davis. "This was a very strategic and the guys ran tough and tactical.
Michael Russell is proving to be a great front runner. Our next four guys were only separated by six seconds. All five of them ran under a 26 which is a sign of a good team unit."
Akron won the event with 32 points, followed by Ohio in second with 47. Regionally-ranked Miami edged Dayton for third place with 82 points, while the Flyers had 96. Dayton finished ahead of Kent State, Bowling Green and Wright State.
Joseph Stewart won the event in a time of 24:32. Senior
Michael Russell was UD's top finisher, taking 9th place out of 444 in a time of 25:18.Sophomore
Michael Tymoski was 17th, crossing the line at 25:49. Russell and Tymoski were honored at the awards ceremony for finishing in the Top 20 in the D-I division.
Five different Flyers recorded personal bests, including two who made UD's Harrier's Hero list:Â Tymoski moved up to 28th on the Harrier's Hero list and freshman
Tyler Adgalanis made it onto the Harrier's Hero list as well at 32nd. Zach Hughes,
Michael George and
Maxwell Roeske also ran personal best times today in the tough, windy conditions.
Sophomore
Kyle Lach was four seconds behind Tymoski in a time of 25:53, good enough for 21st place. Sophomore
Ethan Louis was just one second behind Lach at 25:54 and took 24th place. Adgalanis crossed in 25:55 and took 25th place.
Alex Kuvin also scored for the Flyers in 28th with a time of 26:05.

Michael George (37th in 26:22); Zach Hughes (45th in 26:45);
Tom Clark (49th in 26:54); Matt Fakler (55th in 27:09); and

Dayton will race in the Bradley 8k Invitational Friday, Oct. 17 in Peoria, Ill.
