MAINEVILLE, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's golf team was only able to complete 18 holes of the 36 holes scheduled for the first day of play at Cincinnati's Bearcat Classic at TPC River's Bend due to inclement weather. Freshman Quinn Atkinson leads the team with her low round of 77 heading into tomorrow's final round.

"The team did a good job today under really tough weather conditions, a steady downpour and an hour rain delay," commented head coach Sally Kosters. "Quinn Atkinson was a joy to watch, hitting greens and making birdies. Her 77 could have easily been par on any other day."

Atkinson is tied for 16th place overall with her five-over-par 77. Sophomore Jenna DiPaolo carded an 81, shooting nine over to tie for 47th place after the first round. Senior Lucy Frey is also tied for 47th place with an 81.

Junior Mika Suntay was 12-over-par for the day with a round of 84 to tie for 69th place. Senior Mary-Katherine Slattery carded a 90 (+18) and is tied for 89th place and senior Kelly Muskat fired a round of 93 to finish the first 18 holes in 94th place.

Competing as an individual, freshman Emily Connors shot a 25-over-par 97 and is in 96th place.

Play will resume tomorrow morning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
