PITTSBURGH – The University of Dayton men's cross country team took 8
th place out of 14 teams at the 2014 Atlantic 10 Championship race at Schenley Park today.
"It was bittersweet that we ran the fastest team time that we've had all season in the 8k on the most difficult 8k course we've run all season," said UD Head Coach
Rich Davis. "However, we were unable to celebrate a finish in the top half of the 14 teams.
"We showed a very good team effort with pack running," added Davis. "Our second, third and fourth men all finished less than a second apart. We established ourselves as a very good team but it didn't show on paper today."
Senior Rad Gunzenhauser, of Saint Joseph's, won the race in a time of 24:33.6. George Mason won the team championship with a score of 50 with the help of its top three runners taking second, third and fourth place.

Kyle Lach was UD's top finisher, taking 31
st place in a time of 25:35.6. Senior
Michael Russell was next for the Flyers in 36
th place in a time of 25:40.2, edging out teammates, sophomores
Michael Tymoski (37
th in 25:40.8) and
Hunter Johnston (38
th in 25:40.9).
Sophomore
Alex Kuvin was 45
th in a time of 25:49.8 for Dayton. Freshman
Tom Clark was 58
th in 26:09.0 and
Ethan Louis was 60
th in 26:09.4.
"The kids came a long way this season, setting PRs," said Davis. "Six of our top seven finishers are returning next year for the A-10 Championships which will be held in Richmond. We're looking for ongoing and continued success."
Also competing for UD today was: junior
Maxwell Roeske who finished in 26:11.5; freshman
Michael George turned in a time of 26:17.8; and freshman
Tyler Adgalanis ran the 8k in 26:30.6.
The Flyers are back in action at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional 10k on Nov. 14 in Madison, Wisc. at noon.
