DAYTON --
The University of Dayton men's basketball team took care of business on Saturday, taking down the UIC Flames in an easy 75-41 victory. Jordan Sibert led the Flyers with 22 points and was four-for six from three-point range. Devon Scott led in the rebound department for Dayton with an impressive 10 for the game.  Scott had his first career double-double with 13 points and 10 boards.

For the first 10 minutes of the game, the scoring pace was, to be kind, best described as sluggish, as the two teams could only manage eight points each.  UD took the lead for good on a Jorden Sibert three-pointer with 7:30 remaining in the first half.  That ignited a 17-4 Flyer run closed out the half with Dayton having a 27-16 lead.

In the first 12 minutes of the half the Flyers extended their lead by going on a 26-8 run, including three straight threes by Sibert, Scoochie Smith and Kendall Pollard.  UD led by as much as 38 as late as the 6:10 mark in the second half.

Sibert had a season-high 22 points to lead all scorers.  The Flyer senior guard started the season just 2-of-17 from three point range, but has now connected on nine of his last 15 treys.  In addition to Scott's double-double, Smith had his first double-digit performance of the year with 10 points on four-for-five shooting from the field.

This game held milestone moments for a couple of other Dayton's players. Junior walk-on Bobby Wehrli had his first career points, knocking down a pair of free throws and scoring UD's last field goal of the game.  Likewise, Ryan Bass scored his first points in a Dayton uniform (he played three seasons at and graduated from Oakland University) shortly after he entered the game in the first half.  Bass had been sidelined due to injury for the first four games of the year.  Pollard drained his first career three-pointer.

UD lived up to its "True Team" moniker by having nine players score at least four points in the game, six players have at least three rebounds and five have at least three assists.  Kyle Davis and Kendall Pollard led with four assists apiece.  For Davis, it was part of an excellent overall game.  He made his only shot, grabbed three rebounds, had two steals and led the Flyers with two blocked shots.  For Pollard it was a career high in assists (previous was one) and they were also his first four assists of 2014-15.

Dayton shot 50% from three-point range in the game (8-16).  The Flyers made all nine of their second-half free throws to shoot 72.2% from the line (13-18) in the game.

It was the fewest points UD has given up in a game since December 17th, 2011 against Florida International when they scored only 40 against the Flyers.

Junior Jake Weigand led UIC with 11 points and six rebounds.

Dayton is now 4-1 on the season, while the Flames are 2-5.

The Flyers will take on Miami University in Oxford, OH for their next match on Wednesday, Dec. 3rd.  Game time is 7 p.m. ET.  Dayton will return to UD Arena on Saturday Dec. 6th as the Flyers square off against Eastern Michigan at 2:00 p.m. ET.
