3-1 WIN AT SLU FOR #UDVB EXTENDS WINNING STREAK TO EIGHT

Three Flyers with Double-Digit Kills, Three with Double-Digit Digs

ST. LOUIS - The University of Dayton volleyball team extended its winning streak to eight with a 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-18) win at Saint Louis Saturday afternoon. The Flyers were led by junior Alaina Turner with a match-high 15 kills to go with 10 digs, two aces and two blocks.

Also for the Flyers, freshman Jane Emmenecker recorded the team's other double-double of the day with 48 assists and 11 digs while senior Isolde Hannan had 12 kills, hit at .526 and recorded eight blocks. Freshman Amber Erhahon was the third Flyer with double-digit kills at 11 to go with five blocks and junior Janna Krafka passed a match-high 16 digs.

By the time Dayton (24-5, 11-1 A-10) and Saint Louis (18-9, 7-5 A-10) pulled even at 9-9, the two squads had already been tied seven times. The Billikens pulled ahead two, 11-9, but the Flyers knotted the set again at 12-all and took the lead at 13-12, after a 4-1 spurt. A UD attack error put SLU up three, 18-15, and the Billiken lead was four, 21-17, following a 3-0 Saint Louis run. SLU reached set point at 24-21 on a kill by Lauren Leverenz but UD rallied to pull within one, 24-23. Saint Louis took the first set on the next point to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

Dayton scored the first two points of the second set but the frame was tied at three points apiece after a SLU kill. Saint Louis took its first lead of the set at 4-3 and capped a 4-0 run with an assisted block at 5-3. The Flyers put together a 5-0 run to pull ahead, 8-5, but the Billikens fought back to even the score at 9-9. The UD lead was five, 19-14, after back-to-back SLU errors and six, 21-15, after a service ace from Turner. Saint Louis rallied to pull within three, 23-20, but Dayton reached set point on a Billiken attack error. Hannan recorded the set-winning kill as UD evened the match with its 25-21 win in the second frame.

After opening the third game with a 4-1 advantage, the Flyers let the Billikens back in the set as SLU evened the score at 5-5. Junior Jill Loiars broke up the Saint Louis run with a kill and UD was up three at 8-5. A kill from Erhahon set the score at 16-10 in favor of Dayton and Hannan helped push the lead to seven, 23-16, with a kill late in the set. The Flyer went ahead, 2-1, in the match with the 25-15 third-set win.

The Flyer lead was 10-4 in the early going of the fourth set and Dayton led by eight, 15-7. The Billikens rattled off three straight points to cut into the Flyer advantage but SLU trailed UD by eight again at 18-10. Turner served up an ace to push the Flyer advantage to 10, 22-12, but a late Billiken rally reduced the lead to five, 23-17. A kill from Loiars set up match point at 24-18 and Krafka served up an ace to take the set and the match, 3-1.

The Billikens were led by Nenye Okoro with 13 kills and 11 digs while three other SLU players also tallied double-digit kills for the match.

Dayton returns to action next weekend with its final homestand of the regular season. UD will play host to La Salle on Friday, Nov. 14, with first serve set for 7 p.m.
