FLYERS SOAR PAST ROCKETS, 79-57, ON SCHOOL DAY

DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton women's basketball team soared to a 79-57 victory over the visiting Toledo Rockets Wednesday afternoon at UD Arena. A strong second-half performance propelled the Flyers to victory and UD improves its record to 5-3 while UT fell to 3-3 on the season. The win extends Dayton's home winning streak – the longest in the nation in NCAA Division I women's basketball – to 29 consecutive.

Attendance for School Day was marked at 7,035 and included the largest amount of area school participation Dayton has had since the start of the mid-day, field-trip game.

Seniors Andrea Hoover and Ally Malott led Dayton offensively with 26 points and 15 points, respectively. Hoover made a season-high five three pointers in the game. Freshman Jenna Burdette led Dayton defensively with a career-high four steals. She also tallied 10 points and added five assists.

Dayton out-rebounded Toledo, 40-29, in the game scoring 16 points off rebounds. The Flyers shot 42.9 (24-56) percent from the field and 36.0 (9-25) from three point range while Toledo shot 41.2 (21-51) percent from the field and 36.8 (7-19) from three. The difference in the game was Toledo's 17 turnovers to Dayton's 12 with the Flyers scoring 22 points off turnovers to Rockets' 10.

Dayton led throughout most of a close first half, taking a 34-27 lead into the locker room. The Flyers' largest lead in the half was 10 points with 5:47 left. Kelley Austria led the team in first half points with nine while also grabbing three steals, and sophomore Saicha Grant-Allen led the Flyers in rebounds with four.

The second half was close at the start with Toledo pulling within one point of Dayton on two separate occasions. The Flyers, however, went through a stretch of five made field goals in a row, started by a Hoover three-pointer with 7:19 left to go in the second half to pull away from the Rockets.

The Rockets were led by Janice Monakana and Inma Zanoguera who tallied 15 points and 14 points, respectively.

Dayton returns to UD Arena on Saturday, December 13 to take on Central Michigan in the final game of a three-game home stand for the Flyers. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
