KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced their All-Midwest Region teams for men's soccer and recognized two University of Dayton student athletes for their accomplishments this season.

Amass Amankona was named Second Team All-Region while sophomore defender
Lalas Abubakar was named Third Team All-Region.
Amankona led the team with eight assists, 18 points, 48 shots, 18 shots on goal, and three penalties. The Ghana native also added five goals, which was second most on the team. He played in all 19 games and totaled over 1,780 minutes of action while earning First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors this season.
Abubakar was the anchor of the back line all season and recorded 1,781 minutes of playing time in central defense. Another native of Ghana, Abubakar helped Dayton to seven shutouts and a 0.89 goals against average. He also picked up All-Rookie Team accolades from the Atlantic 10 as well.
These two Flyers were honored after competing in one of the toughest regions in the country that includes national title contenders such as Maryland, Indiana, Ohio State, and Michigan State. They were also part of 10 Atlantic 10 men's soccer players that were recognized as well.
Dayton finished the season with 7-7-5 record overall and a berth in the 2014 Atlantic 10 Championships in Richmond, Va.
