DAYTON -- The University of Dayton men's basketball team recorded its fifth straight win and remained perfect at home on the season with a 56-52 win against the Bowling Green State University Falcons Wednesday night in UD Arena. With the win, the Flyers improve to 7-1 overall on the season while the Falcons fall to 5-2.

Going into the game, both teams entered the contest with top 25 ranked defenses in the country. Dayton ranked 24^th and BGSU ranked 23^rd both allowing only 56.4 points per game. Leading up tothe game, the Falcons hadn't allowed their opponents to score above 63 points in any of their first six games.

Two Flyers scored in double-figures as Devon Scott led the team with 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the floor with 10 rebounds to get his third double-double in the last four games. Jordan Sibert added 11 points and eight rebounds.

BG's Zach Denny led the Falcons in scoring with 16 points, while Richaun Holmes scored nine points and hauled in 11 rebounds for the visitors.

Dayton started the game sluggish going down as much as 11 points in the first half. The Flyers shot only 39.1 percent from the floor and going 0-7 from beyond the arc. The Falcon's size advantage inside proved to be a factor as they had 15 second-chance points from 11 offensive rebounds for the game. Dayton went into the half trailing 32-24.

Devon Scott came alive in the second half scoring seven of his 15 points in the first four minutes. The Flyers brought the game all the way back to tie it up at 39-39 from Jordan Sibert's three-point bucket with 14:18 left in the game, this broke an 0-9 drought Dayton was on from beyond the arc.

But the Falcons responded with an 11-0 run to put the Flyers into a hole midway through the second half. The Flyers finished the game on an 18-2 run over the last 9:50 of the game. UD allowed no field goals in the last 4:54 and only one in the last 10:17. Dayton didn't take a lead until there was 2:14 remaining in the game. Once they took the lead, the Flyers never relinquished it.

The difference in the game came from the free throw line. Dayton went 21-29 from the charity stripe as the Flyers only put the Falcons on the line for a total of six attempts and only two were converted. Ryan Bass, Jordan Sibert, and Scoochie Smith were combined 8-for-8 to go perfect from the line.  Pollard gave Dayton its first lead (53-52) from the line, Sibert put UD in control with as pair to make it 55-52 with 17 seconds left and Pollard iced the game with another freebie with one tick left.

The Flyers are back in action this Saturday, December 13^th, at 2 p.m. ET as they travel to take on a SEC opponent Arkansas. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
