NASHVILLE - The University of Dayton softball team dropped a 7-3 decision to Indiana State Saturday evening in its fourth game of the Tennessee State Tiger Classic. Four Flyers recorded multiple hits and sophomore Kennedy Haynes tallied two RBI in the contest. Dayton will close out the tournament Sunday with 2:30 p.m. (CT) match up against the host Tigers.

Indiana State (3-3) was able to get four runs up on the board in the bottom of the first inning, all four coming with two outs on the board. Erika Crissman's RBI-single plated ISU's first run and Brook Riemenschneider sent a long ball over the fence with two runners on to give Indiana State the 4-0 lead.

With the bases loaded in the top of the second, sophomore Kennedy Haynes' one-out, two-RBI double cut the Indiana State lead in half, 4-2. The Sycamores were able to get a run back in the third, scoring on a wild pitch to set the score at 5-2.

Freshman Katie Ryan scored the Flyers' third run of the game in the top of the fourth on a RBI-single from senior Alysha Isaacson. That would be as close as Dayton would get and Indiana State scored two more in the fifth.

The Sycamores loaded the bases in the bottom of the fifth with one out after back-to-back walks and got a run across after a hit batsman. A wild pitch allowed another run to come across and when a ball got away from the Flyer catcher, the Sycamore runner was put out at home with help from sophomore pitcher Emily Froment. Indiana State took a 7-3 advantage into the sixth inning, which would prove to be the final margin.

Junior Kayla English (0-4) was charged with the loss for the Flyers after throwing 4.1 innings of the game. She struck out four but walked six while giving up seven earned runs on four hits. Sophomore Emily Froment closed out the game for Dayton, tossing the final 1.2 innings. She struck out one and walked one while holding the Sycamores scoreless.

Taylor Lockwood (1-1) got the win for Indiana State. She worked the final four innings of the game for ISU, striking out two while walking one and giving up zero runs on seven hits. Halle Humphrey started the game in the circle for the Sycamores, tossing three innings. She recorded zero strikeouts to one walk and gave up three earned runs on five hits.
