NO. 21 DAYTON DEFEATS SLU 67-58 ON MATH DAY IN FRONT OF 7,000 FANS

Dayton Tied A School Record For A-10 Victories In A Season With 14

DAYTON, Ohio – No. 21 University of Dayton women's basketball (21-5, 14-1 A-10), back-to-back Atlantic 10 Regular Season champions, defeated Saint Louis (11-17, 6-9 A-10) 67-58 Wednesday morning in its annual "Math Day" game in which more than 7,000 fans filled UD Arena. It was Dayton's final home regular season game. The Flyers are  24-0 at UD Arena in the last two seasons and their home court win streak is up to 26 consecutive victories, which is the third-longest streak in the nation.

Junior Andrea Hoover led the Flyers with a game-high 19 points, to go along with her eight rebounds, six assists and two steals. Junior Ally Malott added 16 points. Freshman Celeste Edwards also scored in double figures, posting 14 points. In addition, Edwards had six rebounds and four assists.
 
The Flyers faced their biggest halftime deficit this season when the Billikens led 36-25 after the first 20 minutes. SLU led by as many as 13 points early in the second half, but then the Flyer defense stepped up.

Dayton held Saint Louis without a three-point field goal (0-for-10) and outscored the Billikens 42-22 in the second half.

A three-pointer by Edwards gave UD its first lead of the game at 9:02 (51-48). In fact, Edwards scored 10 points in less than three minutes to help give UD its first lead.

Hoover, who scored a career-high 29 points against Saint Louis earlier this season, scored 12 of her 19 points in the second half, including a fastbreak layup with 45 seconds left in regulation to give Dayton its largest lead of the game.

The Flyers outrebounded SLU 37-36 and dominated on fastbreak points, 23-9.
 
UD closes out the regular season at George Washington on Saturday, March 1. The A-10 Tournament Championship will be held March 5-9 in Richmond, Va. at the Richmond Coliseum. The Flyers have clinched the No. 1 seed and will play their first game on Friday, March 7 at noon.
