MEN'S GOLF IMPROVES TWO SPOTS AT PINEHURST INTERCOLLEGIATE

Steffensmeier Leads Dayton in 23rd Place

PINEHURST, N.C. - The University of Dayton men's golf team improved two spots Monday after posting the field's third best team round on the second day of the Pinehurst Intercollegiate. Today's 18 was played on Pinehurst No. 2, a par-70, 7,495 yard course. Senior Andrew Steffensmeier currently leads the Flyers in a tie for 23rd place.

The Flyers shaved 23 points of their first-round total, turning in a 304 team total for the second day of play to move up into a tie for eighth place. Steffensmeier fired a four-over 74 to jump 15 places in the standing to move up to 23rd place. Freshman Nick Paxson also turned in a 74 for the afternoon and is now in 30th place.

Junior George Rohde, III carded a 77 (+7) for the second round, moving him up into 26th place, while freshman Caleb Wolters shot a nine-over 79 (t42). Sophomore Thomas Goss took seven strokes off his first round total with an 82 (+12) on Monday, putting him in 55th place.

Playing individually, junior Will Chambers carded an 11-over-par 81 and now is in a tie for 46th place overall.

The team returns to action Tuesday morning for its third and final round with a 9 a.m. tee time. Play will return to Pinehurst No. 8, the par-72, 7,092 course.
