Box Score 2 FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The University of Dayton softball team split its games Sunday in the final day of the Colorado State Classic defeating Southern Utah in come-from-behind fashion, 10-9, and falling to the host Rams, 9-5. Senior Kasi Vaquez went 4-for-6 between the two contests with two home runs and seven RBI.

Dayton (6-12) picked up with 10-9 win over Southern Utah in come-from-behind fashion early Sunday after trailing 9-6 late in the game. Despite jumping out to the quick 6-0 lead after the first inning, the Flyers fell behind 9-6 after the top half of the sixth. Junior
Tiffany Ricks batted in two runs with a single up the middle followed by Vaquez' two-run homer to lift UD over SUU.
Freshman
Gabrielle Snyder (4-4) picked up with win for Dayton in the circle after throwing the final two innings of the game. She struck out one and gave up one earned run. Sophomore
Emily Froment started the game, striking out three to one walk and gave up three earned runs on five hits. Junior
Kayla English put in 3.2 innings of work, striking out four and giving up four earned runs.
Ashley Ostler (0-3) was the pitcher of record for the Firebirds after giving up the final two earned runs of the game. Katie Greenburg was the starter, striking out two to four walks. Jordan Theurer through one out of relief for the Redbird.

The Flyers fell behind early and were not able to dig themselves out of an 8-0 deficit. UD pulled to within three, 8-5, on the strength of a 5-0 spurt capped with sophomore

Junior Lindsey Diggs (0-1) was charged with the loss. She worked two complete innings before Snyder relieved her.
Larissa Petakoff (3-3) collected the win for the Rams after working a complete game in the circle. She struck out eight batters to only three walks and gave up four earned runs on 10 hits.
The Flyers return to action this Wednesday as they are set to open the home portion of the 2014 schedule with a doubleheader against Morehead State. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. March 12.
