Dayton Squared Off Against Appalachian State and The Citadel

BLUFFTON, S.C. - The University of Dayton women's golf team hosted two events over the weekend at the Berkeley Hall Golf Course just outside of Hilton Head Island, S.C., featuring Appalachian State and The Citadel. The Flyers hosted a tri-match round on Saturday and faced off head-to-head against The Citadel on Sunday.

Dayton finished in third place on Saturday, just three strokes off the second-place team, The Citadel. Appalachian State finished first with a low team round of 322. Sophomore Mika Suntay fired the squad's low round of 79 to take third place overall. Junior Mary-Katherine Slattery was the top individual finisher of the day with a 41-40=81.

In Sunday's dual match, Dayton was only three strokes off The Citadel with a team score of 334. UD's Suntay and senior Maggie Prokop tied with Citadel's Kellie Anderson for the top spot after each carded rounds of 79. Sophomore Jackie Berardi and senior Grace Nikolai were next in line, tied for fourth place with rounds of 82.

The Flyers will return to action March 24-25 for the Butler Spring Golf Invitational which will be held at Prestwick Country Club in Avon, Ind.
