Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton softball team held on for the 4-3 nightcap win over the visiting Morehead State Eagles Wednesday evening to split its doubleheader at UD Softball Stadium. The Eagles picked up the first game, also by a margin of 4-3. Freshman Gabrielle Snyder went 3-for-4 at the plate while also tallying the win in the circle for the Flyers in game two.

Senior Alysha Isaacson was 2-for-5 for the day with a home run and two RBI, extending her hitting streak to six games. Junior Natalie Mariano recorded a walk in each of the two games, bringing her on-base streak to a team-high-tying 14 games, equaling a streak set by senior Rachel Archer earlier in the season.

GAME ONE: Morehead State 4, Dayton 3 | Box Score (PDF)
Despite scoring the first three runs of the game, Dayton (8-29) would not be able to best Morehead State (8-29) in the first game of its two-game series with the Eagles. A three-run third for MSU evened the score at three runs apiece and the Eagles plated the winning run in the fourth on a bases-loaded hit batsman.

Junior Kayla English (12-11) was charged with the loss in the circle for the Flyers in the first game. She worked 4.0 innings, striking out three and walking one while giving up one earned run on five hits. Sophomore Emily Froment tossed 1.1 innings of middle relief with one strike out and one walk while junior Lyndsey Diggs closed out the contest, working 1.2 innings.

Tanna Seuferer (4-13) earned the win for the Eagles after working a complete game. She struck out four to two walks and she gave up three earned runs on seven hits.

GAME TWO: Dayton 4, Morehead State 3 | Box Score (PDF)
The Flyers were again the first to strike in the second game, plating two in the second inning when Archer earned two RBI on a bases-loaded single. Isaacson led off the third inning with a solo shot to the to right, her fourth home run of the season, as UD went ahead of MSU, 3-0.

With Snyder on second and two outs on the board, senior Jenna Lopes stepped in for a crucial pinch-hit appearance, doubling in Snyder to score what would prove to be the game-winning run. The Eagles rallied in the top of the seventh, starting with a solo home run followed by a RBI-double. With two runners on and two outs, an Eagle singled in the team's third run of the contest but the rally would be cut short as the Flyers held on for the 4-3 win.

Snyder (6-7) threw 6.2 innings to earn the second-game win for Dayton. She struck out three batters to one walk and gave up three earned runs on five hits. Froment picked up her second save of the season, closing out the game for the Flyers.

Dayton returns to action on Friday as the team is set to travel to Olean, N.Y., for an Atlantic 10 Conference doubleheader at St. Bonaventure. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. at SBU's Softball Diamond.
