GOLFER MAGGIE PROKOP NAMED TO CAA ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

Complete CAA Release

RICHMOND, Va. - University of Dayton senior women's golfer Maggie Prokop has been named to the Colonial Athletic Association All-Academic Team as announced by the league office Wednesday. This is the first season the All-Academic Team has been awarded.

Prokop played 19 rounds over 10 events for the Flyers this season, posting an 81.05 stroke average and recording three top-10 finishes. She turned in a career-low round of 73 in the first round of this year's Dayton Flyers Invitational on Oct. 21. In UD's dual match against The Citadel on March 9, Prokop tied for first place with her round of 79.

College of Charleston freshman Laura Fuenfstueck was selected as the 2014 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golfer and Rookie of the Year in voting by the league's head coaches.
Also earning top honors from the conference was the Cougars' Jamie Futrell as CAA Coach of the Year.

Fuenfstueck became the first freshman to win the individual title at the CAA Women's Golf Championship after scoring 72-76—148 (+4). She is the third golfer in CAA history to earn both the Golfer and Rookie of the Year honors in the same season, joining UNCW's Carmen Perez-Narbon (2007) and Georgia State's Iliska Verwey (2008).

Futrell, who is in his 18th season at the helm of the Cougars, earned CAA Women's Coach of the Year honors after guiding CofC to its first league title in its inaugural year in the conference. Futrell coached the team to four team titles on the season and seven Top 5 finishes over 11 tournaments in 2013-14. College of Charleston earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.
