Mika Suntay Leads Flyers After 18 Holes

Round One Results

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The University of Dayton women's golf team has wrapped up its first 18 holes of the 2014 IPFW Spring Classic Sunday afternoon at Chestnut Hills Golf Club. The Flyers are fielding two teams in this event being played on the par-72, 6,100-yard course and they are competing against nine other programs. Sophomore Mika Suntay carded the team's low round of three-over-par 75 and is currently tied for ninth place overall.

Along with Suntay, senior Maggie Prokop (78, t-21st), junior Lucy Frey (81, t-38th), senior Erin Peavy (82, t-44) and senior Grace Nikolai (83, t-49) round out the scoring for Dayton's "A" team. The team is in eighth place with its composite score of 316 - just 16 shots out of the lead.

Junior Kelly Muskat leads Dayton "B" with her seven-over 79 and is tied for 28th place. Freshman Jenna DiPaolo is right behind Muskat with an 80 for her first 18 holes (t-31) and junior Mary-Katherine Slattery and sophomore Jackie Berardi are both tied at 44th with a first-round total of 82. Sophomore Amalia Emma turned in an 84 and is tied for 54th place as the team is in ninth place with a squad score of 323.

Monday's second round shot gun start has been moved up one hour to 9 a.m. in anticipation of rain in the area.
