DAYTON WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY TAKES 3RD AT FLYER 5K

DAYTON, Ohio
– The University of Dayton hosted the annual Flyer 5K to open the 2014 season on Saturday morning and the women's team finished third overall.

The Flyers got off to a strong start to the campaign despite running a younger squad.

Freshman Kate Crawford led the way for Dayton with a time of 19:53.5, finishing 18th overall. Junior Mickey Ludlow was right behind her in 20th with a time of 19:59.5. Freshman Grace McDonald, sophomore Kathleen Keene, and freshman Nicole Steinbicker finished 26th, 27th, and 31st respectively. Freshman Claire Attea wrapped-up the day in 63rd for the Flyers.

Ohio State took the top spot overall with eight runners in the Top 10 while Louisville had the other two Top 10 performers. Dayton trailed in third place followed by Cleveland State, Wright State, and Northern Kentucky.

The Flyers continue their campaign next weekend at the Queen City Invitational in Highland Heights, Ky.
