Day One Results

VIENNA, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's golf team is currently tied for second place (314) after the first round of the Roseann Schwartz Invitational hosted by Youngstown State. Sophomore Jenna DiPaolo leads the Flyers with a 73 and is currently in second place overall. The two-day event is being held at the par 72, 5,925-yard Candywood Golf Course and features Cleveland State, Malone and the host YSU Penguins.

Junior Mika Suntay carded a round of 75 (+3) and is in a tie for third place overall.

"Jenna (DiPaolo) was putting lights out and Mika (Suntay) turned it on late in the round," commented head coach Sally Kosters. "The rest of the team left a few shots out in the woods and hope to have cleaner rounds tomorrow. Across the team, ball striking is great, we just need to avoid some one or two hole blowups. I was very pleased to see freshman Emily Connors with a 38 on the front nine."

Senior Kelly Muskat and junior Amalia Emma each fired rounds of 11-over 83 and are tied for 16th place. Senior Lucy Frey rounded out the team scoring with a round of 85 (+13 - 20th). Also competing for the Flyers as individuals are Connors and senior Mary-Katherine Slattery, both with an 83 (t-16).

Dayton will wrap up play at its first tournament of the season tomorrow (Sept. 2) with a 7:45 tee time.
