SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Dayton men's cross country team took fourth place out of 10 NCAA Division I teams with 129 points at the National Catholic Invitational.

The Flyers were just one point behind third-place Saint Louis, an Atlantic 10 Conference opponent.  Canisius won with 33 points, edging host Notre Dame, which had 35 points. 

"It shows we are doing a great job running as a pack and running as a team," said UD Head Coach Rich Davis. "We're stepping up and on track to achieve our goal of being in the top half of the Atlantic 10."

Senior Michael Russell was UD's top finisher, while sophomore Kyle Lach was Dayton's second-best finisher.  Russell ran a time of 25:38 to take 17th out of 184 runners.  Lach was 22nd in 25:49. 

Alex Kuvin (28th in 26:03.07) was the third Flyer to cross the line and sophomore Michael Tymoski finished right behind Kuvin in 26:03.11 for 29th place. Sophomore Ethan Louis was UD's fifth man across in 26:09 for 34th place. Freshmen Tyler Adgalanis (35th in 26:12) and Michael George (58th in 26:49) were sixth, and seventh for the Flyers, respectively to round out the scoring for Dayton. 

"This was a great team effort. We ran a 31-second spread between the top five runners, but only a six-second spread between our third, fourth and fifth."

The Flyers are back in action Saturday, Sept. 20 at the Friendship Invitational, hosted by Cedarville University.
