#UDVB BOUNCES BACK WITH SWEEP OF JACKSONVILLE

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of Dayton volleyball team claimed a three-set (31-29, 25-20, 26-24) sweep of Jacksonville Friday night at JU's Swisher Gym in the squad's second match of the UNF/JU Radisson Invitational. Junior Jenna Jendryk led the Flyers with 11 kills while freshman Jane Emmenecker recorded her third career double-double with 39 assists and 13 digs.

Also for the Flyers, junior Alaina Turner had 10 kills while senior Isolde Hannan tallied nine kills with a match-high five blocks.

Dayton (8-4) got behind Jacksonville (7-5), 4-2, in the first set but rallied with four straight points to take over the lead, 6-4. A 7-1 run for the Dolphins tipped the scales in JU's favor, 12-8, and the Flyers were forced to call for timeout. Jacksonville was up five, 15-10, when Dayton earned sideout with a kill from Jendryk and the lead was two, 18-16, after a kill from Erhahon. Trailing 20-17, the Flyers put together a 6-1 rally to lead the Dolphins 23-21 late in the frame. Seven set-points later and Dayton was able to retire Jacksonville, 31-29.

The Flyers were all over the Dolphins to start the second set, jumping ahead to the 11-2 lead. Jacksonville worked hard to get the advantage cut to four, 14-10, and used an assisted block to make it only three, 15-12. Dayton pushed its lead to six, 22-16, on a service ace and earned set point at 24-17 with a kill from Loiars. The Dolphins rallied with three consecutive points but the Flyers ended the second set with a kill by Jendryk to take the frame, 25-20.

Jacksonville was up three, 6-3, early in the third set but Dayton put together a 6-1 run to go up, 9-7. The Flyer lead was three, 17-14, after a Dolphin attacking error but JU was able to even it up at 20-all on a UD attack error. A hard swing from Erhahon resulted in set point for Dayton at 24-22 and she closed did it again at 25-24. The Flyers closed out the set with a 26-24 win to take the match, 3-0.

The Dolphins were led by Sammie Strausbaugh with a match-high 24 kills and 15 digs. Nicole Pritchard passed 19 digs and Jizzian Gesualdo set 40 assists for JU.

The Flyers return to action tomorrow morning at North Florida. First serve is set for 10 a.m. at UNF Arena.
