PHILADELPHIA - The University of Dayton volleyball team extended its winning streak to five matches with a straight-set sweep (25-15, 25-19, 25-9) of La Salle at the Explorers' Tom Gola Arena Saturday evening. Junior Alaina Turner posted a match-high 14 kills with six digs and two service aces.

Also for the Flyers, freshman Amber Erhahon tallied eight kills while hitting at .438 to go with four blocks while junior Jenna Jendryk also had eight kills and hit for a blistering .583. Junior Janna Krafka passed a match-high 13 digs and freshman Jane Emmenecker set a match-high 34 assists.

The Flyers continue to hit well posting their third-straight match at .300 or better with tonight's .386 hitting percentage. UD posted 42 kills to LAS's 23 and the Flyers tallied seven team blocks to the Explorers' four.

Dayton (12-4, 2-0 A-10) got off to a strong start in set one, scoring the first nine points of the frame and the lead was 12, 13-1, after a kill from Turner. La Salle (6-12, 0-2 A-10) put together a 5-0 run of its own to cut the UD advantage to six, 13-7, but it was back to 10, 17-7, following back-to-back Turner service aces. An Explorer kill and service ace kept them alive late but the Flyers sealed the 25-15 first-set win with Turner's third kill of the frame.

The second set would be a different story as La Salle battled to stay with Dayton, tying the frame at four points apiece after a Flyer attack error. The Explorers held a one-point advantage twice during the set and would continue to remain close. It was 13-all after a UD service error but the Flyers put together a quick 4-0 spurt to go up, 17-13. Turner laid down a kill from the left side to put Dayton up four, 20-16, and the Flyers reached set-point on an Explorer attack error. Another La Salle attacking error ended the frame with Dayton on top, 25-19, to take the 2-0 match lead.

In the third set, Dayton maintained control from start to finish, scoring the first three points of the set and jumping ahead, 8-2, following three-straight Explorer errors. A 6-0 Flyer run mid-set essentially put the game out of reach as UD went ahead, 17-6, and cruised to the 25-9 win. UD took the match, 3-0.

The Explorers were led by Laura Kuhlmeier with nine kills while Erin Noga was the team's leading passer with eight digs.

The Flyers return to action tomorrow afternoon with a 1 p.m. match at Penn. The Flyers and Quakers will square off in non-conference action at The Palestra.
