MASON, Ohio –  The University of Dayton men's cross country team took third place out of six Division I teams at the 33^rd Annual Queen City Invitational Friday at Kingswood Park in Mason, Ohio in a sweltering 90-degree heat. Three Flyers received special recognition for finishing in the Top 25 of 240 runners and the top five Flyer finishers had just a 21-second split differential.

Senior Michael Russell led the UD pack with a ninth place finish in a time of 15:47 in Division I. Sophomore Kyle Lach was just five seconds back in 11^th place in a time of 15:52. Freshman Tyler Adgalanis, who earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors last week, was 16th  in a time of 15:56.

"We added to the team competitiveness that we established at the Flyer 5K just six days prior," said UD Head Coach Rich Davis. "Out of 24 teams, we were one of four teams to break a 16-minute average for our top five guys.  "Another sign of our competitiveness was that we beat all three Cincinnati teams on their home course. It proves we are ready to tackle the 8K and 10k races that we will have for the rest of the season. The team ran very well. The top eight were the same we had at the Flyer 5K except the order was different. We had a 21-second split for top 5 and 26-second for top 7."

Dayton finished fourth with 108 points, behind first place Eastern Kentucky (30), Wabash (93) and Morehead State (98). The Flyers finished ahead of Xavier (149), Northern Kentucky (162) and Cincinnati.

The other UD scoring runners were: sophomore Michael Tymoski (17^th place in 16:02), junior Matthew Krakora (19^th in 16:03), freshman Michael George (22^nd in 16:08) and Ethan Louis (23rd in 16:08).
 
Dayton is next in action at the National Catholic Invitational, an 8k hosted by Notre Dame, on Sept. 19 at 4:30 p.m.
