DAYTON WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY TAKES THIRD AT QUEEN CITY

Overall Results   I   Individual Results

MASON, Ohio – The University of Dayton women's cross country team competed in the 33rd annual Queen City Invitational Friday and finished third overall.

"We had some very promising individual performances today," said Head Coach Sarah Haveman. "As a group, we lost focus for a short bit and we weren't able to make up ground that was lost. That is something we will look to improve upon in two weeks. Emily Leonard and Grace McDonald really stood out today and really stepped up for the team."

In the second meet of the season for the Flyers, Dayton scored 86 points and posted an average time of 19:19.07.

Freshman Emily Leonard paced the Flyers and finished sixth individually with a time of 18:37.80. Junior Mickey Ludlow followed in 18th by finishing in 19:22.05 while freshman Grace McDonald finished 19th. Senior Katie Ollier rounded out the Top 20. Freshman Kate Crawford finished 23rd, freshman Nicole Steinbicker finished 29th, and sophomore Kathleen Keene finished 35th.  Megan Collins, Brittany Fisher, and Claire Attea also competed Friday as well.

Eastern Kentucky took the top spot with an average time of 18:36.88 with Xavier and Dayton close behind. The Flyers edged out Indianapolis and Morehead State for third on the day.

The Flyers will take a week off before a busy weekend in which they compete at the National Catholic Invite in South Bend on Friday and the Friendship Invitational in Cedarville on Saturday.
