PEORIA, ILL. – The University of Dayton men's cross country team placed fifth out of 26 teams in the Bradley Classic 8k Red Race Friday afternoon.

"This is one of the best team efforts, all-time at Dayton," said Head Coach Jason Ordway. "The field was extremely deep and our guys competed extemely well. We had three guys finish under 25 which this program has not had accomplished since 2010. We also had big PRs today."

Five Flyers ran times that were on the UD men's cross country Top 50 All-Time 8k Performance list: Hunter Johnston 24:41 (25^th all-time), Ethan Louis 24:44 (26^th all-time), Kyle Lach 24:45 (T-27^th all-time), Michael Tymoski 25:04 (T-41^st all-time), Spencer Danielson 25:11 (T-49^th all-time).

"Our top three guys are all-conference contenders," said Ordway. "They executed different race strategies and converged together at the end of the race. It's really a testament to our competitveness as a team."

In addition, 12 Flyers ran PR times in the race. Freshman Luke Hoover finished sixth place in the White Race for Dayton.
Teams from the Atlantic 10, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, Horizon League, Missouri Valley, Ohio Valley, SEC, Summit League and Western Athletic conferences and 249 runners competed in the race.
 
Illinois (ranked fifth in the USTFCCCA Midwest Region) took first place with a score of 70. Nebraska (12^th in Midwest Region) was second, Iowa (15^th in Midwest Region) was third, and Illinois State (13^th in Midwest Region) was fourth ahead of the Flyers in fifth.
