BATTLE OF A-10 FAVORITES GOING DOWN SATURDAY AT #FRERICKSCENTER

No. 1 Dayton to Host No. 2 Saint Louis Saturday at 1 p.m.

DAYTON, Ohio - After stepping out of conference play for a mid-week match at Xavier on Wednesday, Dayton volleyball returns home to Frericks Center to host Saint Louis Saturday afternoon. With its 3-2 win at XU, UD extended its active winning streak to 14 matches and, will also put a perfect 8-0 Atlantic 10 mark on the line against SLU. Offensively, the Flyers are led by senior Alaina Turner with 4.36 kills/set (1st A-10, 17th NCAA), sophomore Amber Erhahon with a .380 hitting percentage (1st A-10, 48th NCAA) and sophomore Jane Emmenecker with 11.05 assists/set (1st A-10, 29th NCAA). On the defensive side, Erhahon leads the team with 1.22 blocks/set (2nd A-10) and senior Janna Krafka passes 3.91 digs/set (4th A-10).

About Saint Louis
Just one match behind Dayton in the Atlantic 10 standings, Saint Louis is 18-6 overall and holds a 7-1 mark in league action. The Billikens went 1-1 in a pair of matches last weekend as they had their 15-match win streak snapped with a 3-2 loss to VCU on Oct. 16., The Bills rebounded with a 3-1 win over Davidson on Oct. 18. SLU is led at the net by Danielle Rygelski with 4.15 kills/set (2nd A-10) and Meredith Boe sets 10.42 assists/set (4th A-10). On the defensive side, Taylor Paulson records 0.95 blocks/set and Mackenzie Long gets under 3.35 digs/set (7th A-10).

Series Stuff
There have been 42 meetings in the series between Dayton and Saint Louis, dating back to three wins for the Flyers in 1978. UD holds a 26-16 advantage over SLU and the two last squared off on Nov. 8, 2014 in St. Louis as Dayton claimed a 3-1 win. The Flyers have won the last three and 11 of the last 12 matches between the two programs.

RPI Rankings
Dayton heads into Saturday's match holding a Rating Percentage Index (RPI) ranking of 46 according to ncaa.com. Saint Louis comes in with a RPI of 66.

Flyer Facts
• Tim Horsmon is in his seventh season overall, and second since 2007, as head coach of the Flyers in 2015. His record at Dayton is 174-54 and his career win-loss mark sits at 350-218 in 17 seasons as a head coach.
• With 14.13 kills/set (26th NCAA) as a team, Dayton leads the Atlantic 10. The Flyers also lead the A-10 in hitting percentage (.277, 15th NCAA), opponent hitting percentage (.177) and assists/set (13.05, 34th NCAA) and rank second in digs/set (14.22) and third with 1.52 service aces/set.
• Individually, senior Alaina Turner ranks first in the A-10 with 4.36 kills/set (17th NCAA) while sophomore Jane Emmenecker is first in the league with 11.05 assists/set (29th NCAA) and sophomore Amber Erhahon ranks first with a .380 hitting percentage. Also among the top 10 in the league are:
Erhahon, 1.22 blocks/set (2nd); senior Jenna Jendryk, .348 hitting percentage (3rd); Turner, 0.43 aces/set (3rd); senior Janna Krafka, 3.91 digs/set (4th); Krafka, 0.31 aces/set (t-9th).
• Over the last seven seasons (2009-2015), the Flyers have recorded an 86-9 mark in Atlantic 10 Conference play, including a perfect 14-0 mark in 2012 and a 15-0 record in 2010. UD suffered only one conference loss in 2014, 2011 and 2009.
• For the 2015 season, Dayton returns the 2014 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year in senior Alaina Turner, the A-10 Setter of the Year in sophomore Jane Emmenecker and the A-10 Libero of the Year in senior Janna Krafka.
• The Flyers finished the 2014 season with a 30-6 overall record and with a 13-1 Atlantic 10, finishing in first place in regular-season league play. 2014 was the program's third 30-win season of the modern-DI era.
• Dayton has won the Atlantic 10 Regular Season title 11 times (2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2001, 1998). The Flyers have won the A-10 Championship title a league-record nine times (2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2005, 2004, 2003) and made their 10th NCAA appearance in program history in 2014.

Moving up the Ranks
With 1,332 career kills, senior Alaina Turner is moving up the ranks in UD's record book. She's just 169 kills away from usurping former Flyer All-American Rachel Krabacher who currently holds the number-five slot with 1,500 kills. Currently in second place on the all-time career digs list (1,883), senior Janna Krafka is only 218 digs away from become Dayton's new career digs record holder, replacing Adrienne Green (2,070).

You "Kill" Me (through matches on Oct. 21)
With 4.36 kills/set, senior Alaina Turner ranks 17th in the NCAA while scoring 5.13 points/set which comes in at 13th in the nation. The A-10's leading attacker, Turner ranks 46th nationally with 11.11 attacks/set, 67th with 822 total attacks and 33rd with 323 total kills. For her career, Turner ranks 19th among active NCAA DI players with 1,332 career kills. Oh, and did we mention the reigning A-10 Player of the Year serves up 0.43 aces/set which is good for 29th nationally?

13th to 1,000
With two wins at the 2014 Bowling Green Hampton Inn Invitational, Dayton surpassed the 1,000-win mark as a program and is just the 13th NCAA DI team to attain that level of success. The Flyers currently rank 13th all-time in the Division I record book with an overall program tally of 1,044-562 (.650) over 46 seasons (1970).

UD Picked First in 2015 A-10 Preseason Poll
Dayton has been chosen to finish in first place in the Atlantic 10 for 2015. The Flyers, winners of five of the last six A-10 titles, tallied 88 points in voting among the league's head coaches (including eight of 10 first-place votes). George Washington was selected to finish second.

Up Next
After enjoying back-to-back Atlantic 10 weekends at home, Dayton will hit the road next week for a three-match road swing. UD will head to Kingston, R.I., to take on URI Friday evening at 7 p.m. A trip over to NYC will be up next as Dayton squares off against Fordham in the Bronx Saturday at 7 p.m. Sunday, the Flyers will be in New Jersey for a non-conference match-up with the Seton Hall Pirates at 3 p.m.
