SCOUTING THE FLYERSThe 2015 Atlantic 10 Champion Dayton Flyers are 13-5-4 overall after going 5-1-2 in the A-10 during the regular season. The Flyers are on a four-game unbeaten streak and will look to avenge its 2-0 loss to the Buckeyes earlier this season. Head coach
Dennis Currier has 301 victories in his 23 seasons as a head coach.
The Flyers boast one of the most prolific attacks in the nation, leading the country in total goals with 57 and scoring offense with 2.59 goals per game. Dayton is only allowing 1.23 goals to opposing squads while out-shooting them (18.0-10.9) and at a higher percentage on goal (.416-.358).

Amass Amankona leads the Flyers with 13 goals, five assists, 31 points, and a .548 shots-on-goal percentage. Fellow senior and first team All-Conference honoree

Justin Saliba have split time in goal for UD, combining for a 1.17 goals against average and 59 saves.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
OHIO STATEThe Buckeyes enter the tournament with a 13-6-2 record overall and a 5-2-1 Big Ten mark. Ohio State has won 13 of the last 15 contests with the two losses coming at Rutgers (Oct. 25) and vs. Maryland in the Big Ten Tournament Final (Nov. 15). Head coach John Bluem is in his 19th season at the helm of the program.
Ohio State is scoring at a rate of 1.33 goals per game and holding opponents to 0.81 goals each contest. The Buckeyes have scored 28 goals in 21 games despite being out-shot 12.0 to 11.5 per game. OSU also has a corner-kick advantage as well.
Leading the way is Kyle Culbertson, who has six goals and five assists, and Danny Jensen, who has five goals and six assists. Former UD goalkeeper
Chris Froschauer has 72 saves and 10 shutouts.
THE SERIESThe Flyers and Buckeyes have met 47 times in the series history with Dayton winning 18 of those contest. OSU won the meeting earlier this season in Columbus, 2-0. Prior to that, UD had won the previous three meetings.
LAST OUTINGDayton rallied from a 2-0 first half deficit against Oakland in the first round to tie the game at 2-2 forcing overtime and eventually penalty kicks. The Flyers advanced on PK's 4-3.
Ohio State lost in the Big Ten Championship game 2-0 to No. 3 seed Maryland. A goal in each half by the Terrapins ended the Buckeyes' title hopes and a four-game winning streak.
A10 CHAMPIONSDayton won its second A-10 tournament title in school history with a 4-1 win over VCU in the conference title game on Nov. 15. The Flyers are making their fourth appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
FIRST NCAA SECOND ROUND APPEARANCEDayton will play in its first second round NCAA tournament in school history on Sunday. The Flyers have been to the tournament three times before, but failed to get out of the opening round.
CURRIER GETS NO. 300Dayton's
Dennis Currier got his 300th career win as a head coach with a win over Rhode Island on Nov. 13. In 23 seasons and at three different schools, Coach Currier has logged 461 games as a head coach, posting a .700 winning percentage.
INTO THE RECORD BOOKSThis season, Dayton has scored 57 total goals this season, which is the most in a single season in school history. The Flyer had twice before scored 46 goals back in 2008 and 1975.
2015 ALL-CONFERENCE HONOREESThe Atlantic 10 Conference released its season awards prior to the tournament with seven Flyers picking up accolades. Amankona was named Offensive Player of the Year and Midfielder of the Year, as well as first team all-conference. Schoonderwoerd and Haupt joined Amankona on the first team offensively with junior
Lalas Abubakar being named defensively. Senior midfielder
Kissima Bojang was named second team all-conference and freshman
Kennedy Nwabia was named to the All-Rookie team.
Academically, Amankona and Haupt joined senior defender
Andrew Lightner on the Academic All-Conference team, rounding out the awards for Dayton.
OFFENSIVE POWERHOUSEThe Flyers have been a force on the offensive side of the ball this season, ranking in the top 10 nationally in numerous statistical categories. Dayton currently leads the nation in total goals (57), scoring offense (2.59), points per game (7.50), total assists (49), and total points (163). The Flyers are also fourth in assists per game (2.23) and second in shots per game (18.05).
HOME FIELD ADVANTAGEDayton out-scored opponents 30-7 over its past seven home games, including a 7-1 win over Saint Joseph's in A-10 play. The Flyers are 6-2-1 in games at home as well, outscoring opponents 34-10.
LEADING THE WAYThe Flyers are having a stellar season offensively, leading the Atlantic 10 in shots (18.05), points (7.50), goals (2.59), assists (2.23), and corner kicks (6.68).
FLYER SUCCESSThe Dayton men's program has an overall record of 470-397-80 and three NCAA tournament appearances in its history. The Flyers are also 130-80-24 in the Atlantic 10 Conference and have seven conference titles between the regular season and league tournament, including the 2015 A-10 Tournament Championship.
AMANKONA NAMED SENIOR CLASS FINALISTThe 2015 Senior CLASS Award candidates were announced and Dayton's
Amass Amankona is one of 10 male finalists for the national honor. The award is given to one male and female in each sport every year that best exhibits excellence in four areas: classroom, character, community, and competition. Amankona is one of two A-10 candidates and joins Dayton women's soccer's Nicole Waters on the list. Dayton is one of only four schools with both a male and female honoree.
CURRIER'S IMPACTThe head coach of the Flyers has had success at every place he has coached.
Dennis Currier is in his 11th year at Dayton and holds a career record of 301-116-45 in 22 seasons and a 113-67-33 record with the Flyers. His career winning percentage of .701 ranks fifth in the nation amongst active coaches, ahead of programs like Maryland, Stanford, UCLA, and Virginia.
UP NEXTIf victorious on Sunday, the Flyers will move on to the third round where they will face the winner of No. 8 seed Stanford and Santa Clara on Nov. 28 or 29.
