#UDWBB TO OPEN GULF COAST SHOWCASE AGAINST MAINE FRIDAY

Tip-Off Between Flyers and Black Bears Set for 11 a.m.

DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's basketball team will be in Estero, Florida, this holiday weekend to participate in the 2015 Gulf Coast Classic. UD will tip the weekend off on Friday at 11 a.m. against Maine in its first game of the three-day event being held at Germain Arena.

About the Flyers
Dayton has opened the 2015-16 season with three consecutive wins for the first time since the 2012-13 squad started 12-0. The Flyers have picked up wins over teams from the Ivy League, SEC and Big Ten heading into Friday's game against Maine. UD is led offensively by senior Amber Deane with 18.0 ppg. and a .500 field-goal percentage. On the defensive side, the Flyers' leading rebounder is junior Saicha Grant-Allen with 6.0 rpg. while senior Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova  is the team's leading blocker with 2.7 bpg.

Scouting Maine
Maine (3-2, 0-0 AEC) is coming off a 20-point win over Central Connecticut State on Tuesday after out-scoring its opponent, 33-15, in the second half. The Black Bears reached the 20-win mark in 2014-15 for the first time since 2004-05. Maine is led by Sigi Koizar with 16.8 ppg. and Liz Wood with 6.6 rpg.

Last Time Out
Dayton closed out its season-opening three-game homestand Sunday with an 87-64 win over Big Ten opponent Wisconsin. Seniors Kelley Austria and Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova each scored 16 points to pace the Flyers while junior Andrijana Cvitkovic was UD's leading rebounder with seven boards. As a team, the Flyers sank a season-high 11 balls from long range compared to the Badgers' five.

The Series
Wednesday afternoon will be the first meeting between Dayton and Maine.

70'S the Magic Number
Since the 2009-10 season, Dayton is 114-11 (.912) when scoring 70 or more points, including 24-2 in 2014-15. During the 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, the Flyers only lost one game per season when scoring at least 70 points, and dropped only two games in 2009-10 when reaching that mark.

Atlantic 10 Preseason Poll
Dayton was picked to finish second in the Atlantic 10 for 2015-16 in voting among league head coaches with two first-place votes and 177 total points. All three of the Flyers' seniors were named to Preseason All-Conference Teams led by Amber Deane who earned mention on the First Team. Kelley Austria was named to the Preseason Second Team while Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova was named to the Third Team. Both Austria and Cornelie-Sigmundova were also voted onto the All-Defensive Team.

Three Points of Excellence
Dayton has hit at least one three-point shot in 451 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 2, 2001, the longest streak in the Atlantic 10 Conference and one of the top streaks in the nation. The Flyers made a program-record 15 three-point field goals against Buffalo in the Connecticut World Vision Classic on Nov. 25, 2011. Dayton tied the record with 15 vs. Wright State on Nov. 28, 2012.

1,000 and Counting
With her first made basket in the 2015 Atlantic 10 Championship final, senior Amber Deane became the 23rd member of Dayton's 1,000-point club as only the 10th Flyer to reach that milestone in her third season. She has 1,110 career points, currently ranking 19th all-time.

We'll Take the Free Ones
As a team, the Flyers shot 76.4 percent from the free throw line in 2013-14, the BEST team free throw percentage in Dayton history. Last season's squad posted the program's second-best team free throw percentage at .745, finishing the year ranked first in the Atlantic 10 and 27th nationally. The Flyers are off to a great start from the line this season, currently coming in at 76.4 percent.

20/20 Vision
Dayton reached the 20-wins mark for the eighth-consecutive season with its 59-45 win at Fordham on Feb. 18, 2015. This was the 15th time in the program's 47 seasons that Dayton has reached the 20-win plateau.

Sixth-Consecutive NCAA Tournament for Dayton
The Flyers made their sixth-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2015 and hold an all-time record of 5-6 in NCAA Tournament play. UD gained entry into 2015's field of 64 with its fifth at-large bid to the championship (automatic qualifier in 2012 with the team's only Atlantic 10 Championship title) and advanced to the program's first Regional Final.

You're Invited to a Block Party
The team's blocks leader for the past three seasons, senior Jodie Cornélie-Sigmundová averages 1.98 blocks per game for her career which ranks 15th among all Division I active players while her career total of 192 blocks ranks 10th nationally among all DI actives. Cornélie-Sigmundová's career blocks total ranks third in Dayton program history - just 28 blocks behind the all-time leader Michele Kruty (220; 1984-88).

Welcome to the Team
Dayton signed three to National Letters of Intent during the recent early signing period: Jenna Giacone (Delmar N.Y./Bethlehem Central), Jayla Scaife (Muncie, Ind./Muncie Central) and Jordan Wilmoth (Chestnut Ridge, N.Y./Immaculate Heart Academy). The trio will be joining the team in the fall of 2016.
