LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. - The University of Dayton women's golf team opened its spring 2015 season Sunday by hosting the Saguaro Shootout at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Arizona. The Shootout was played on the Heritage Course at 6,291 yards with a par of 72 as UD hosted Grand Canyon and Northern Arizona for 18 holes. Freshman Emma Meyer posted the Flyers' low round of 79.

Northern Arizona recorded the low team score of 311 and one of the Lumberjacks also earned medalist honors by carding the field's low round of 73. Grand Canyon turned in a team score of 314 and Dayton rounded out play with a 330.

"It was great to get back out on a course for the first time this semester," commented head coach Sally Kosters. "Weather conditions in Dayton have prevented us from practicing outside so the team was excited to be able to compete."

Meyer recorded a career-low round of 79 to lead the Flyers, while classmate Quinn Atkinson and sophomore Jenna DiPaolo each carded rounds of 81. Three Flyers posted an 18-hole score of 83 in the junior trio of Mika Suntay, Jackie Berardi and Amalia Emma.

Also for Dayton, senior Mary-Katherine Slattery fired a round of 84 and freshman Emily Connors carded an 86. Kelly Muskat rounded out play with an 87.

The Flyers return to action in March when the team will host the Dayton Hilton Head Invitational. The two-day event is set for March 7-8 at the Berkeley Hall Golf Club in Bluffton, South Carolina.
