KENT, Ohio - The University of Dayton men's cross country team began its spring track season Saturday at the Kent State Indoor Track & Field Tune Up.
The team competes in five spring track events, one indoor and four outdoors, to prepare for the upcoming fall cross country season.
"We had eight men run competitive efforts which resulted in quality times," Head Coach
Rich Davis said.
Sophomore
Ethan Louis had the top finish on the day for the Flyers, placing third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:16.27. He was followed close behind by freshman
Tom Clark, who finished fifth in the event posting a 15:26.42 time.
Five Flyers competed in the 3,000-meter run, with all of them finishing within the top 36 runners in the 50-man field. Sophomore
Hunter Johnston finished ninth in the event with a time of 8:42.94. Fellow sophomore
Kyle Lach placed 12
th in the event, posting a time of 8:47.48.
Freshmen
Tyler Adgalanis and
Michael George finished 19
th and 25
th, respectively, and sophomore
Alex Kuvin finished 36
th.
Freshman
Zack Hughes was the Flyers' only participant in the 800-meter and one-mile runs, finishing 24
th and 33
rd respectively in those events.
"We got the season off to a great start, and it looks like we're building some speed that we're going to carry on through the rest of the outdoor season and into the fall cross country season," Davis said.
The Flyers begin their outdoor track season March 21.
