DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton softball team is headed up the road to Oxford, Ohio, for the Miami Invitational. Play gets under way on Thursday and continues through Sunday.
Dayton will begin with Oakland on Thursday at 6 p.m. Play continues on Saturday with another game against the Golden Grizzlies, this time at 2:30 p.m. Â The Tournament wraps up with a Sunday doubleheader, first against host Miami (OH) at 3:45 p.m. and then against North Dakota at 6 p.m.

Scouting Report- Oakland (8-9) - Led by junior Sarah Hartley, who is batting .441 with 26 hits, 16 runs, and 18 RBI, and junior Laura Pond who has a 2.07 ERA.
- Miami (Ohio) (9-7)- Senior Tiyona Marshall leads the RedHawks with a .421 batting average while Bree Lipscomb has a team high three home runs and 12 RBI.
- North Dakota (3-15) - Led by freshman Shelby Hard who is batting .364 with a team high six homeruns and 13 RBI

English Named A-10 Co-Pitcher of the WeekFor her performance at the USF Under Armour Showcase, senior Kayla English was named A-10 Co-Pitcher of the week. Â She pitched two complete shutout games for the Flyers over that weekend against Wagner (W, 7-0) and Robert Morris (W, 1-0). Jaclyn Kweder had a stellar collegiate start to the 2015 season. Â She was awarded the first Rookie of the Week award for 2015 (February 2-8). Â Kweder went 6-for-12 over four games in the Flyers' opening weekend of play. Â She had a double and two RBI. Â Kweder batted .500 for the week, collecting six hits with a .583 slugging percentage and .500 on base percentage.
Cash Earns Rookie of the Week HonorsManda Cash received the Rookie of the Week accolade for games played Feb. 16-22. Â Cash made four appearances where she pitched 11.2 innings, fanned 15, walked four, and allowed three earned runs. Â She pitched her first complete game as a Flyer, leading Dayton to a 3-1 victory over Georgia Southern. Â Cash struck out six, walked two, and allowed eight hits and one earned run against the Eagles.
The Bar Has Been SetDayton softball is coming off a successful 2014 campaign. Â They finished with a 27-29 record, 27 wins is the most wins in a season since 2000. Â They finished 9-9 in the conference, fifth in the standings. Â 27 wins is the most in a single season for head coach
Cara LaPlaca, it's her fifth 20-win season at UD. Â Dayton made a second-consecutive Atlantic 10 Championship appearance, its third in the last four years and sixth overall. Â The team's two victories in the tournament are the most ever by any Flyer softball team.
