PINEHURST, N.C. - The University of Dayton men's golf team finished in fifth place overall (311-303-320=934, +36) at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate Sunday after 54 holes of play. Senior
George Rohde, III had the top individual performance finishing in a tie for 11th place (80-72-78=230, +17) among 65 competitors. The three-day event was held at the Pinehurst Resort's course No. 8 which was played at par 71 and 6,980 yards.
Belmont took home the tournament title after turning in team scores of 297-301-302 for a 48-over-par total of 900, 18 strokes ahead of the second-place team. The Bruins' Ashton Van Horne led all three rounds to take medalist honors (69-72-73=214, +1).
Sophomore
Nick Paxson was one stroke behind Rohde with his rounds of 74-78-79 as he finished in a tie for 13th place at 18-over-par (231). Freshman
Brendan Keating fired rounds of 83-74-77 for a three-round total of 234. At 21-over-par Keating finished tied for 19th place.
Senior
Will Chambers finished in a tie for 39th place after rounds of 74-79-89 (242, +29) and freshman
P.J. Malik ended up at 44-over-par and tied for 61st place. He carded rounds of 88-83-86=257.
The Flyers return to action March 22-24 when they take part in the William & Mary Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate in Williamsburg, Virginia.
