DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton baseball team dropped a 5-0 decision to Massachusetts Friday afternoon at Woerner Field.
The first four innings was a pitcher's duel as both offenses were held in check.
Massachusetts opened the scoring in the fifth inning with a two-run double to right-center. The Minutemen added another run in the sixth to take a 3-0 lead.
The visitors added to their advantage with single runs in the seventh and ninth as well, and would be all the scoring UMass would need to pick up a 5-0 victory over the Flyers.
Dayton recorded three hits in the contest, one each from sophomore
Robbie Doring, senior
A.J. Ryan, and sophomore
Cale Dineen. The Flyers managed six total base runners, but left all six stranded.
Starter
Charlie Dant (1-4) pitched six innings, allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out four.
The Flyers (6-13, 0-1 A-10) will continue their series with the Minutemen at 1 p.m. Saturday.
