DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton softball team begins an 11-game road trip this week starting with a matchup against crosstown foe Wright State on Wednesday, followed by a three-game weekend series against preseason conference favorite Fordham.  Wednesday's game is set for 5:30 p.m., while the weekend series is scheduled for a single game Friday at noon, while Saturday will feature a doubleheader also with an 11 a.m. start time.

Recent Action
The Flyers have a 22-10 record and are coming off a three-game series sweep of Rhode Island.  Dayton dominated the series, winning all games in 5 innings and they outscored the rams 30-1.
Wright State enters the game with a 7-21 record overall. They have dropped four of their last five games, but are 4-1 at home this season.
Fordham just completed a doubleheader sweep of LaSalle and are currently 3-2 in conference play this season.

Series Stuff
Dayton has a 30-49-2 all-time record against the Raiders, while they are 21-19 all-time against the Rams.

Fordham is led on the mound by Rachel Gillen who has a 3.33 ERA with 118 strikeouts.

Just Win Baby
With the 8-0 victory over Rhode Island on March 28 head coach Cara LaPlaca reached the 20-win milestone for her sixth time at UD, and her fifth season in a row.  LaPlaca is now looking to break her record for most wins in a season at UD with 27 (2014).  The overall record for most wins in a season is 35 (2000).

Perfect English
Senior pitcher Kayla English threw the first perfect game in UD history on March 29 against Rhode Island.  She retired all 15 batters in a row in the 10-0 5-inning victory.  It was her second no-hitter in her career, she threw one against Wright State on March 27, 2014.  For her performance, she was awarded A-10 Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season.

Top Tossers
This season the UD pitching staff leads the Atlantic 10 in ERA with a 2.55 mark, which is good for 40th in the country.  The staff is led by Kayla English who is tops in the A-10 with a 1.62 ERA (38th nationally).  Manda Cash ranks second in the conference with a 2.04 ERA (66th nationally).  English also ranks first in the conference in hits per seven innings (3.52, 8th nationally), shutouts (5, 14th nationally), while Cash is tops in strikeouts per seven innings (9.8, 16th nationally).

Haberstich Named Rookie of the Week
For her performance during games played March 25-29, freshman Kayla Haberstich was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week.  The shortstop racked up nine hits to boost her batting average to a .275, while knocking in six runs in the Rhode Island series.  She also had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with nine putouts and eight assists.
