#UDVB SWEEPS CLEVELAND STATE IN DAYTON INVITE FINALE

Senior Angel Agu with Career-High 10 Kills

DAYTON, Ohio – In the finale of the Dayton Invitational, the University of Dayton volleyball team swept Cleveland State, 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 27-25), Saturday night at Frericks Center. The Flyers improve to 4-5 for the year and the Vikings fall to 8-3 on the season.

STATS OF THE MATCH
• Senior Angel Agu recorded a career-high 10 kills in the win for the Flyers while senior Alaina Turner had a team-high 12 kills and 10 digs, her fifth double-double of the season.
• Senior Janna Krafka passed a match-high 18 digs and sophomore Jane Emmenecker set a match-high 43 assists.
• Cleveland State was led by Christina Toth with a match-high 15 kills and Dayna Roberts with nine digs.
• Dayton out-hit Cleveland State, .348 to .308, and the Flyers tallied 52 kills to Vikings' 40.

SET-BY-SET
• Set One: It was a 5-1 start for Dayton to open the match and the Flyers' lead was six, 12-6, when Cleveland State signaled for timeout. UD was the first to 20, leading by eight, and Turner laid down a kill to reach set point at 24-14. The Vikings held twice but the Flyers took the game on a kill from Jendryk.
• Set Two: It's point-for-point in the early going of set two and they two teams were tied for the fifth time at 5-5. A 6-0 spurt for UD put the Flyers up 11-5 but CSU cut the lead to one, 19-18. Cleveland State scored three more points but Dayton took the set, 25-21.
• Set Three: The third tie of the set came at seven points apiece following a 3-0 CSU run but UD was up three, 12-9, after back-to-back kills from Turner. The Vikings were able to pull in front, 19-17, but a service ace from Krafka knotted the set at 20-20. It took extra points but Dayton claimed the 27-25 third-set win and the match, 3-0.

UP NEXT
• Dayton stays at home next weekend to host the Flyer Invitational Sept. 18-19. The field will include Eastern Michigan, Illinois State and Jacksonville. All matches will be played in Frericks Center and admission is free.
