DAYTON, Ohio – In its first match on Saturday, the University of Dayton volleyball team defeated Jacksonville in straight sets, 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-16). Dayton improves to 6-5 on the season while Jacksonville falls to 3-9 for the year.

Megan Giardina recorded the double-double with 23 assists and a match-high 12 digs and senior
Alaina Turner tallied a team-high 13 kills.

Jenna Jendryk also had double-digit kills with 11 and freshman
Margo Wolf passed 10 digs for UD.

Angel Agu was the team's leading blocker with three and senior
Janna Krafka served up three aces to go with nine digs.
• Jacksonville was led by Emily Laskelle with a match-high 14 digs and Jizzyan Gesualdo with 19 assists and 10 digs.
• Dayton out-hit Jacksonville, .402 to .194, the Flyers' best hitting percentage of the season. UD recorded 48 kills to JU's 29.
SET-BY-SET• Set One: Jacksonville kept the first set close in the early going and trailed Dayton by two, 11-9. A 3-0 spurt by the Flyers kick started UD and Dayton held a seven-point lead, 21-14. The Flyers reached set point at 16 and took the frame at 25-17.
• Set Two: A kill from sophomore
Megan Giardina capped off a 6-2 run for the Flyers to open the second game. The Dolphins pulled to within one, 9-8, but UD rattled off five straight points to jump out, 16-10. Dayton was up 10, 22-12, following a kill from Giardina and freshman
Kendyll Brown recorded the set-winning for the Flyers, 25-19.
• Set Three: Jacksonville fell behind, 3-1, in the third set battled back to tie the frame at 6-6. A 5-0 Dayton run put the Flyers up, 11-6, and the UD lead was seven at 15-8. Dayton led by as many as nine late in the set before taking the game, 25-16, and the match, 3-0.
